Ralph Lauren draws inspiration from Morehouse and Spellman for new collection.

This new collection is inspired by the rich traditions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and their deep connection to the American experience. The collection includes outerwear, knits, tailored suits, dresses, footwear and accessories inspired by the rich history of Morehouse and Spellman.  The collection and its associated garments were conceptualized and designed by Morehouse and Spelman alumni working at Ralph Lauren.

HBCUs have a rich tradition that many organizations have continuously overlooked for decades. As a graduate of an HBCU, with their roots extending deep on both sides of my family, this sort of collaboration is a welcome change. While I’m not a graduate of Morehouse or Spellman (obviously), a collection like this is an excellent way to bring the impact of all HBCUs into the spotlight. Not just to a domestic audience, but to an international one as well.

The Polo Ralph Lauren Exclusively for Morehouse and Spelman Colleges Collection will be available in an exclusive presale for students, faculty, and alumni of the schools to purchase on March 28, and will then be open to the public on March 29. More information about the collection can be found here.
