The Happy Hour: The Red Russian

red russianThere are plenty of Russian mixes, such as White Russian, Black Russian, and even a Blushing Russian. But the Red Russian stands tall as it was created in 1969 in Iceland by bartender G. Kristjannson. The original recipe was served in a shot glass, with no ice.


  • 1 oz vodka (30 ml)
  • 1/2 oz Cherry Brandy (15 ml)
  • 1/2 oz Apricot Brandy (15 ml)

Place ice into the shaker and pour the drinks. Shake and pour in mix into an Old Fashioned glass without straining.
