A Playlist of Blurred Lines: A Hypnotic hit with a classic style

Blurred LinesMelodic and hypnotic, “Blurred Lines” is Robin Thicke at his best. Silky smooth vocals over a flawless Pharrell track, it is very reminiscent of some of Thicke’s earlier work with Williams. However the sence of deja vu that is exuded by the song does not come from the all to familiar paring of Thicke and Williams, but from the use of Marvin Gaye’s “Got to give it up as the backbone of the track. The video itself  (both the NSFW and SFW versions) demonstrates a kind of art house style that is both quirky and refined as it celebrates the sexuality and sensuality of the song’s lyrics.

Not one of his most well-known hits, ” Got to give it up” is one of our favorite songs by Gaye (right up there with “Memories” & “Mercy Mercy Me”). If you are not familiar with this sometimes twelve-minute long dance opus of the disco era, get familiar with a classic.
