The Happy Hour: Russian Night

In a weird week of weather here on the east coast, winter felt like early summer for a day or two but now as the week draws to a close winter is reasserting its dominance over the month of December (yes I know that its not technically winter yet). When I think of the cold I think of random references to the harsh coldness of Siberia. These random mental wonderings lead us the cocktail called the Russian Night. Nothing can keep you warm in those cold Russian nights as a Russian vodka, at least that’s what they tell us.

  • 3-4 Ice cubes
  • 1 1/2 oz. Vodka (45 ml)
  • 2 tsp. Blue Curacao
  • 3-4 drops of Pernod
  • 1-3 maraschino cherries

Mix all the ingredients in the cocktail strainer (minus the cherries). Shake with a lot of ice and strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
