The Happy Hour: The Rob Roy

The Rob Roy was first created in 1894 by a bartender at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City, and is a cocktail similar to a Manhattan. The drink is named for the Scottish folk hero Robert Roy MacGregor. The Rob Roy is made with Scotch whisky, originally Dewar’s Scotch Whisky, while the Manhattan is traditionally made with rye and today commonly made with bourbon or Canadian whisky.

•1.5 US fl oz Scotch whisky
•0.85 US fl oz Sweet vermouth
•Dash Angostura bitters

Stirred over ice, strained into a chilled glass, garnished, and served straight up, or mixed in rocks glass, filled with ice.
