The Playlist 12/8/09

Music is a fundamental element that connects all of us. Music touches us to our very souls in ways that no other art form can do. The Webster embraces music in all forms as they speak to us in different ways. There are no top 10 list nor is there a list of the essential songs.  Music as a whole is essential. Music is love! Music is LIFE! Here are 10 random songs from our playlist.

1. “You Send Me” by Sam Cooke

What can I say about Sam Cooke that hasn’t already been said by others before me. I love this song! It is one of my favorites (after “Cupid”) by Mr. Cooke. If you don’t know about this man and his music check out the Wikipedia entry on him. He is a true legend!

2. “Dare to be stupid” by Weird Al Yankovic

Weird Al is the best! We loved “Eat it”, we loved “Fat”,  and we loved “It’s all about the Pentiums”, “Dare to be stupid” is an over looked classic from Wired Al. I first heard it as a child in “Transformers: The Movie”. Its a great zany song.

3. “Swing ya rag” by T.I. ft. Swiss Beats

Paper Trail may be T.I.’s best album to date. While not the deepest cut from the album, “Swing ya rag” is an energetic song that what will defiantly get you out of your seat and have you swinging your rag (or pocket square) in the club.

4. “DOA (Death of Autotune)” by Jay Z

Though I have never been a huge Jay Z fan, DOA is one of his best songs ever (my opinion). It’s just a great song!

5. “Why you wanna trip on me?” by Michael Jackson

6.” Overdose” by Jamie Foxx

“Overdose” is a great song from a great album. If you don’t have Intuition, get it! It’s easily one of the best R&B albums in the past few years.

7. “You’re my baby” by Robin Thicke

To me, Robin Thicke is just one of those artist who pours 100% of himself into every song. If you are ever trying to find the words to express how you feel to or about your significant other, just put on some Thicke. He will say everything that needs to be said.

8. “Shorty (Got her eyes on me)” by Donell Jones

This brother’s music is so smooth and so real, yet he is so underrated. He is easily one of the best R&B artists of the past 15 yrs.

9. “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga

Say what you want about her but the girl makes some good music. She is defiantly the fresh air that the industry has needed for a while. Also don’t let the weird costumes and such get it twisted…. the girl can SING!!!

10. “Friend of Mine” by The Notorious B.I.G

To quote Brett Hart: “The BEST there is, the BEST there was, the BEST there ever will be!”

Be Blessed and Make Today Count!
